Inside the historic Plaza Theatre, local leaders, community members, and supporters come together each year for Dance for Kids’ Sake, the signature fundraising event for Big Brothers Big Sisters of El Paso. The celebration combines movement, mentorship, and meaningful impact, raising essential funds to support the organization’s mission of connecting children with caring adult mentors who help guide the next generation of El Paso leaders.

Among this year’s participants are Lupe Diaz and Emmanuel Alfaro, known on the dance floor as Couple Number 3. The pair joined the competition to support a cause they deeply believe in. “Having a Big Brother or Big Sister can guide a child to become one of El Paso’s future leaders,” shared Emmanuel. “There is a real shortage of Big Brothers right now, so this event is about inspiring people to step up and make a difference.”

For Lupe, the event represents both personal growth and community spirit. “I had seen the event in previous years and thought it looked like something fun to do,” she said. “As a former volunteer manager, I’ve seen firsthand the impact mentorship can have. This is a great way to give back and help create more opportunities for local kids.”

Participants like Lupe and Emmanuel dedicate weeks to rehearsing, fundraising, and raising awareness about the importance of mentorship in shaping brighter futures. Their commitment reflects the heart of Dance for Kids’ Sake, which has become much more than a dance competition. It is a celebration of compassion, perseverance, and the belief that small acts of guidance can create lifelong change.

Guests can look forward to a silent auction followed by an evening of dance performances that light up the Plaza Theatre stage. Every ticket sold and every donation made directly supports programs, training, and resources that empower Big Brothers Big Sisters of El Paso to continue its work in the community.

Whether you attend to cheer on the dancers, participate in the auction, or simply enjoy a night of inspiration and entertainment, your support helps ensure that more children in El Paso have the guidance, confidence, and encouragement they need to succeed.
