Partners Ivan Morales, Adrian Requences (administrative director), Carlos Acosta, and Oscar Medrano (sales director and creator) proudly launched Eighteen Eighty One, a brand with deep roots dating back to 2017 and firmly established in 2020. Officially kicking off operations in 2021 as the world began to recover from the pandemic, they’ve dedicated themselves to delivering top-notch products. Transitioning a boutique and enduring product line into the farmers market scene was no small feat, but their determination and hard work have paid off.

Eighteen Eighty One is named in honor of the year the railroad arrived in our area, a nod to a pivotal moment in local history. Their mission is to ignite a sense of pride in El Paso, challenging the notion that being from this city limits one’s possibilities. Oscar Medrano and his team are passionate about showcasing the pride they feel for the border region and inspiring future generations to believe in their potential. Their logo, crafted by their talented friend Gerardo Gillen, beautifully captures their essence, symbolizing El Paso, Las Cruces, and Cd. Juarez united by railroad tracks and a star on the mountain. The unique font is inspired by graffiti from Segundo Barrio, adding a touch of local flair.

Still active at farmers markets, Eighteen Eighty One is now inviting everyone to check out their vibrant new storefront, which opened on May 4th at 303 E. Overland. They envision the retail square they now call home on Overland, Mesa, and Texas Avenue becoming a lively hub brimming with shoppers and explorers soaking in all that Downtown El Paso has to offer. With plans for exciting events, promotions, and partnerships with neighboring businesses, they are set to bring their dynamic vision to life.

Join them for Family Day on June 15th from 1 to 4 PM, featuring food, coffee, and vendors. Additionally, starting this weekend, they will be running a Father’s Day promotion: mix and match two items and get 25% off. Follow their journey on Instagram at @eighteen_eighty_one and visit their store to wear your El Paso pride with style!
