El Paso, TX (July 15, 2024) –The El Paso Downtown Management District (DMD) reaffirms its strong advocacy for a modern, large-scale arena project in Downtown El Paso. This project has long been envisioned as a pivotal quality of life improvement for our community, a regional attraction for out-of-town visitors, and an economic stimulus for further investment in Downtown El Paso. It is crucial to note that this project and vision have already received the support of El Paso voters.
Executive Director Joe Gudenrath has delivered the following message to the Mayor and City Council regarding Agenda Item #30:
Dear Mayor & City Council –
The El Paso Downtown Management District has been and continues to be a strong advocate for a modern, large-scale arena project in Downtown El Paso. This project has always been envisioned to serve as a major quality-of-life improvement for our community, a regional draw for out-of-town visitors, and an economic stimulus for additional investment in Downtown El Paso. This project and vision has already received the support of El Paso voters.
We realize that there is not a clear path toward achieving what this community needs, but before taking ANY action, we demand to know the plan and strategy for the delivery of this project and Downtown El Paso’s overall economic development. Random actions without long-term goals will jeopardize the momentum and future growth of our Downtown.
We look forward to learning your plans and working with you to further develop our Downtown.
Sincerely,
Joe Gudenrath
The DMD emphasizes the importance of a well-defined plan and strategy for the delivery of this project and the overall economic development of Downtown El Paso. Random actions without long-term goals risk jeopardizing the momentum and future growth of our Downtown.
The El Paso Downtown Management District looks forward to collaborating with city leaders to develop a comprehensive plan that will benefit the entire community.
