Valentine’s Day in Downtown El Paso was filled with unexpected smiles, sweet surprises, and 350 roses shared throughout the district.

On February 14, 2026, the El Paso Downtown Management District spent the afternoon “Spreading The Love” by handing out roses to visitors, families, shoppers, and small business owners across Downtown. DMD staff made stops along South El Paso Street and at San Jacinto Plaza, surprising community members with roses paired with heartfelt messages.

The activation created spontaneous moments of joy as visitors posed for photos, friends shared laughs, and families strolling through the plaza were met with an unexpected Valentine’s gift. From border retail shoppers on South El Paso Street to visitors enjoying the sunshine at San Jacinto Plaza, the roses served as a simple but meaningful reminder of connection and appreciation.

“Spreading the Love is our way of thanking the workers, visitors, and small business owners who bring energy and life to Downtown every day,” said Ivan Bernal, Marketing and Communications Manager for the El Paso Downtown Management District. “It’s a simple gesture, but we hope it creates a meaningful moment and reminds people how valued they are.”

Downtown is more than a destination. It is a community shaped by the people who support local businesses, explore our streets, and gather in our public spaces. Valentine’s Day gave us the opportunity to pause and celebrate that shared energy in the heart of the city.

As the Downtown Management District continues creating experiences that strengthen community connection and highlight Downtown El Paso as a welcoming place for all, this annual tradition serves as a reminder that there is always something to love about Downtown.
