This week we spoke with General Manager of Business Operations for the El Paso Locomotive FC, Andrew Forrest to ask him about what attendees can expect at games. Soccer is one of the most popular sports in the world, but it can feel foreign to some Americans that follow American football, basketball, or baseball instead. Most parents have at least cheered their children on in youth soccer games, and soccer or futbol is our bi-national sport in this region. Now we have a United Soccer League (USL) team representing our humble City.
We asked Andrew Forrest more about what to expect for anyone that hasn’t attended a USL game.
For new soccer fans, what can they expect on the field?
Our fans can expect a level of soccer most have never seen before. With players from all over the world and Coach Mark Lowry’s possession oriented system we will keep the ball, frustrate opponents, and attack as a team.
Will there be special themed promotions for games?
Yes! There will be multiple promotional giveaway nights that include the first game with schedule magnets and another game with soccer balls for youth. There will also be three nights of fireworks throughout the year!

What kind of food and snack offerings can fans expect?
Fans can expect a diverse, veritable smorgasbord of options ranging from pizza to sandwiches to a few new menu items. We will also have hawkers in the stands selling beer and water so you don’t even need to leave your seat during the game!
Is there a Mascot, akin to Chico the Chihuahua in the works?
There will be a mascot and he will make a grand entrance during the season to entertain the fans and interact with the kids!
Traditionally, how can attendees participate in the game as fans?
Fans play an important part of a soccer match. Singing, chanting and cheering are just a few ways fans can get involved. In Section 105 is where our supporter’s groups will be and they will lead the charge on the energy and electricity in the building for the team and other fans.

Are there, pre-game or post-game traditions associated with soccer?
One pre-game tradition will start with the Supporter’s march to the stadium. There will be another tradition that will start with game 1 that I believe fans will enjoy. Will have to wait until March 9th to see what that looks like!
For more information about the season, where can fans go online?
Fans can go to eplocomotivefc.com or call 235-GOAL for more info on tickets, group nights, player bios and the full season schedule!
