November of 1930, the El Paso Hilton opened to the public. Now, June of 2020, we once again see the majestic doors open to the public as the Plaza Hotel Pioneer Park El Paso. The hotel was the ninth tallest in Conrad Hilton’s chain in its time and notably the last major design commission for Henry C. Trost , and would hold its place as the tallest skyscraper for 24 years.
The resurrection of the hotel was initiated by Mr. Paul Foster with assistance by global design and architectural firm COOPER CARRY, El Paso-based In*Situ Architecture, and Dallas-based design firm ForrestPerkins.
Features include, the Ambare Restaurante with Mexican cuisine, a reinstated double-height atrium, an extensive collection of Mexican, La Perla, a rooftop bar and restaurant on the 17th floor in the former penthouse suite where actress Elizabeth Taylor lived during her marriage to Nicky Hiltonwines, and so much more!
