The forgotten underground tunnels that span across the city and even into Juarez are the foundation for a city-wide subway system. Plans to utilize this frame work began in earnest once the idea was introduced in an ongoing effort to cultivate, not only downtown, but the city as a worldwide tourist town.
Plans to reinforce the underground labyrinth are priority number one for safe travel, without compromising the stability of properties above ground. The lines would traverse the city, from downtown to the airport, and connect the east and west side in ways that would entice citizens from both sides of town to see what the other lives like.
“I never go farther than Cielo Vista, but would consider it if an inexpensive subway would make it easy to get there quickly and get back if it’s not something I was into,” said Carla Duron, a lifelong westsider.
