The Downtown Management District (DMD) is taking applications for the Community Development Façade Improvement Program, which provides grant funding to existing business and/or property owners to encourage renovation and rehabilitation of the exterior of their buildings in Downtown El Paso. The program is federally funded and has over $200,000 in available funds. Applicants may qualify for grants that cover up to 75% of the total project cost (up to the first $50,000 of the project cost).
Expenses covered by the grant program include: windows, paint, canopies, signs, and restorative work. In addition, the program funds can also be used for expenses incurred for interior ADA accessibility improvements. This includes but is not limited to bathrooms, ramps and water fountains.
The DMD encourages business and/or property owners to apply soon as all projects must be completed by July of 2014.
