SUMMARY:Mountain of Gold: A History of East and Southeast Asian Cultures in El Paso del Norte\, 1880s – 1980s
DESCRIPTION:The title Mountain of Gold refers to how many families described the United States as the “mountain of gold” and Mexico as the “mountain of silver” as they journeyed to border in pursuit of prosperity. \nHistorically\, many Asian individuals were often formally and informally labeled as Chinese\, but this installation explores the unique stories and influences of East and Southeast Asian communities in the borderlands. Drawing on local memories and histories\, this community-based exhibition honors and explores our region’s historic Chinese\, Korean\, Filipino\, Japanese\, and Vietnamese communities. Mountain of Gold challenges narratives of an Asian monolith and dives into each group’s distinct traditions\, highlighting different family stories\, neighborhoods\, businesses\, and community institutions as well as cultural exchanges along the border. \nEl Paso Museum of History Hours of Operation:\n• Wednesday-Saturday: 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.\n• Sunday: 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. \nClosed City Holidays

SUMMARY:Pasos Urbanos III
DESCRIPTION:Pasos Urbanos: A Photographic Narrative of Downtown Borderland Culture is an exhibition composed of images submitted by artists living within a 150-mile radius of Downtown El Paso\, including our sister city Ciudad Juárez\, Chihuahua\, México. This showcase of photographs documents urban life in both El Paso and Juárez. This includes the bustle of the everyday\, the color and joy of local downtown events and festivals\, and the celebrated architecture that make “los centros” unique and thriving hubs of cultural heritage. \nThis third edition of Pasos Urbanos\, focuses on street art\, graffiti\, and visual interventions. We encouraged participants to capture moments of urban art practices and life\, examining and celebrating the power of public art in its most counterculture state. \nEl Paso Museum of History Hours of Operation:\n• Wednesday-Saturday: 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.\n• Sunday: 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. \nClosed City Holidays

SUMMARY:Escaramuza\, The Poetics of Home
DESCRIPTION:“Escaramuza\, The Poetics of Home” is a traveling collaborative project that uses photographic portraiture\, poetry\, and audio interviews to explore the Mexican tradition of escaramuza and the women who practice it in the United States. With the exhibition’s arrival in El Paso\, we will feature new components to highlight the artform’s relationship to the border and local histories. \nEscaramuza\, the women’s event with charrería\, involves a highly choreographed performance set to music as the horses and their riders weave in and around each other. In this exhibition\, artist Constance Jaeggi collaborates with award-winning Los Angeles poet Angelina Saenz and Texas Poet Laureate ire’ne Lara Silva to offer a rare view into the world of escaramuza charra and the women behind the pageantry and costumes. \n“Escaramuza\, The Poetics of Home” will be on display on the 1st floor\, Gallery A.\nPhoto by Constance Jaeggi \nEl Paso Museum of History Hours of Operation:\n• Wednesday-Saturday: 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.\n• Sunday: 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. \nClosed City Holidays

SUMMARY:The Jazz Exchange: Jazz Around Town Music Series at The Garrison
DESCRIPTION:THE EXCHANGE JAZZ AROUND TOWN – 2026 MUSIC SERIES The Jazz Exchange is excited to continue bringing live jazz to El Paso in 2026 through our Jazz Around Town Music Series. In partnership with local venues and businesses\, this series supports and showcases regional artists\, strengthens our creative economy\, and keeps live jazz thriving in our city. \nJoin us for weekly\, bi-weekly\, and monthly performances across El Paso—intimate listening sessions\, vibrant hangouts\, and community-driven nights that welcome longtime jazz fans and first-time listeners alike. Musicians are encouraged to bring their instruments— and sign up for our open jam session on the second set of the night. \nTHE GARRISON Every Wednesday | 7:30 PM – 10:00 PM \nMake Wednesdays a jazz night downtown at The Garrison. Enjoy live jazz in a relaxed setting\, mid-week cocktail specials\, and a late-night kitchen open until midnight. A consistent weekly tradition for the El Paso jazz community. \nAdmission: Free.RSVPs are recommended to secure preferred seating and are managed exclusively through The Jazz Exchange (not through the venue). Reservations are held for the first 20 minutes of the event start time. If your party has not arrived within that window\, seating will be released to walk-in guests. \nSeating & Age Policy: Parties of one may be seated at the bar or with other guests to help accommodate all attendees. Guests ages 13–17 are welcome but must be accompanied by a parent\, legal guardian\, or supervising adult\, and may only be seated in the lounge area if space is available. \nWalk-ins are welcome and may be seated at the bar (21+ only) on a first-come-first-serve basis. Preferred seating for walk-ins cannot be guaranteed until after the 20-minute RSVP hold period has passed and all reservations have been honored. \nWhat to Expect Jazz Around Town is a listening-focused jazz experience\, not background or ambient music. These performances are presented for guests who come to actively enjoy and engage with the music. \nThe evening is typically presented in two sets: \nFirst Set: A featured house band performs a prepared program for the audience. Second Set: An open jam session\, welcoming participating musicians to join in. \nWe kindly ask guests to be mindful during performances—conversation should be kept to a minimum while the band is playing. The artists have prepared their music with intention\, and your attention and respect help create a great experience for everyone in the room. \nIf you’re coming to relax\, listen\, and connect through live jazz\, you’re in the right place.

\n“Escaramuza\, The Poetics of Home” will be on display on the 1st floor\, Gallery A. Photo by Constance Jaeggi \nEl Paso Museum of History Hours of Operation:\n• Wednesday-Saturday: 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.\n• Sunday: 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. \nClosed City Holidays
