SUMMARY:The Wiz
DESCRIPTION:THE WIZ returns “home” to stages across America in an all-new tour\, direct from Broadway. \nThe Baltimore Sun raves “Powerhouse performances. Stunning choreography. Visionary sets” and the Chicago Tribune proclaims THE WIZ is “An eye-popping and high-intensity revival!” \nThis groundbreaking twist on The Wizard of Oz changed the face of Broadway—from its iconic score packed with soul\, gospel\, rock\, and 70s funk to its stirring tale of Dorothy’s journey to find her place in a contemporary world. \nEverybody rejoice–this dynamite infusion of ballet\, jazz\, and modern pop brings a whole new groove to easing on down the road! \nShows and dates are subject to change. Some fees may not be refundable. Everyone needs a ticket\, regardless of age. Children under the age of 6 are not allowed at most Broadway in El Paso performances. Some exceptions apply\, including special productions for young children such as Bluey’s Big Play and Paw Patrol. Children must be able to sit quietly in their own seats without disturbing other guests. As a further courtesy to our guests\, Broadway in El Paso recommends one parent or chaperone for every one child in attendance. Ticket policies are at the discretion of The Plaza Theatre and Broadway In El Paso and may be changed at any time. \nVisit Website

SUMMARY:Losar: Creation of a Tibetan Buddhist Sand Mandala
DESCRIPTION:The El Paso Museum of History is excited to announce the opening of our latest pop-up exhibition\, Losar: A Tibetan Buddhist Sand Mandala. During this live installation\, visitors will be able to view and meet with the Venerable Lama Losang Samten as he creates a Medicine Buddha Sand Mandala. The installation will take place Tuesday\, February 24 through Saturday\, February 28 from 10 am to 12 pm and 2 pm to 4 pm each day. On Saturday\, February 28 it will be unveiled as part of the museum’s Lunar New Year Celebration. \nIn Buddhist cultures\, Losar means the Tibetan New Year and is celebrated on the first day of the lunisolar Tibetan calendar. The Medicine Buddha Sand Mandala is often created during Losar or for special healing ceremonies as it is an intricate\, sacred art form representing the blue Medicine Buddha’s healing power and wisdom. Crafted over several days using colored sand and chakpur (metal funnels)\, it symbolizes and releases healing energy for the world. \n*Note: the museum is closed to the public on Tuesday\, February 24. If you would like to view the installation on this day\, we do ask that you schedule a visit by sending an email to the address below. People without a reservation will not be permitted. Wednesday through Friday the public can stop by at any time to view the creation of the sand mandala. No reservation required. \nFor large groups\, please schedule a viewing by emailing Nora Rose at RoseN@elpasotexas.gov

SUMMARY:Lunar New Year Celebration
DESCRIPTION:Join us as we celebrate the arrival of the new year according to the lunisolar calendar! The 2026 celebration will take place in the Downtown Arts & Culture District at the El Paso Museum of History\, Mexican American Cultural Center\, and Cleveland Square Park. \nAbout Lunar New Year\nLunar New Year is a celebration of the start of a new year and the arrival of spring. The holiday is observed predominantly in China\, Korea\, Vietnam\, Malaysia\, Singapore\, and other countries with large overseas populations from these cultures. \nThe exact date of Lunar New Year varies according to the lunisolar calendar but typically takes place in late January or February with the entire celebration lasting 15 days. The origins of Lunar New Year date back thousands of years\, and each culture has their own unique traditions around the holiday. Common elements across celebrations include the color red\, family gatherings\, and rituals to encourage good luck for the coming year. Many cultures also observe the zodiac in connection with Lunar New Year. The zodiac occurs on a 12-year cycle\, with each year corresponding to a different animal. Different countries have different zodiac animals. In 2026\, the zodiac animal is Year of the Horse. \nHistorically\, El Paso’s Chinese community would observe Lunar New Year in Downtown and Southside El Paso where El Paso’s Chinatown was located. These celebrations took place in the early 1900s and included fireworks\, feasts\, and community gatherings. The large\, centralized celebrations eventually ceased following a decline in El Paso’s Chinese population after World War I but continued on a smaller scale at churches and family gatherings. \nThe El Paso Museum of History began hosting a Lunar New Year festival in 2020 in partnership with the Trien family of Pho Tre Bien. Now a signature event of the El Paso Museum of History\, the event takes place in the heart of the Downtown Arts District. \n– Over 3\,500 visitors participated in the day-long festival in 2025\n– The celebration involves a procession through Downtown to ward off evil spirits and welcome in the new year\n– Free public activities are offered across arts and culture sites downtown including the El Paso Museum of History\, Mexican American Culture Center\, El Paso Museum of Art\, and La Nube\n– The Market features Asian-owned businesses selling food and cultural items\n– Cultural performances occur at the end of the event and feature traditional dances like the lion dance\, fan dance\, and others

SUMMARY:Gladys Knight
DESCRIPTION:The great ones endure\, and Gladys Knight has long been one of the greatest. Very few singers over the last sixty years have matched her unassailable artistry. This seven-time GRAMMY Award winner has enjoyed #1 hits in Pop\, Gospel\, R&B\, and Adult Contemporary\, and has triumphed in film\, television\, and live performance. All told\, Knight has recorded more than 38 albums over the years\, including four solo albums: “Good Woman” (1991); “Just for You” (1994); the inspirational “Many Different Roads” (1999); and “At Last” (2001). “At Last” showed the world that she still has what it takes to record a hit album\, employing the talents of contemporary producers like Randy Jackson. \nTickets: Click Here
