SUMMARY:Adobe At The Pass: Documenting The Mission Valley in 1936
DESCRIPTION:Preservation Texas is planning for the opening of its El Paso County Heritage Center in downtown El Paso in March\, 2025. Preservation Texas developed an inaugural exhibit focusing on the 1936 Historic American Buildings Survey (HABS) photographs taken by San Antonio architect Marvin Eickenroht (1898-1969)\, featuring churches and residences in the West Texas communities of El Paso\, San Elizario\, Ysleta\, and Socorro.  The exhibit will showcase ten (10) high-resolution photographs with accompanying text. The center will have Preservation Texas merchandise available for purchase. Stay tuned for other events!

Hear about the beginnings of El Paso at Ponce’s Rancho\, how the city grew with the railroads and was known as the Six Shooter Capital of the World. This and much more as we walk the historic streets of DTEP. We meet at the Society office\, The Wigwam Museum. This building\, which rests on the foundation of the original Wigwam Saloon\, once owned by John Wesley Hardin\, is the Trost version of The Wigwam Theater and the State Theater.
