On Thursday, July 28th, the Downtown Management District (DMD) Board of Directors approved $1,215 in grant funds for façade improvements at 300 E. Overland Ave., as part of the Downtown Commercial Façade Improvement Grant program.
The program provides matching funds to existing businesses and/or property owners to make improvements to the exterior of buildings in the boundaries of the El Paso DMD, the Downtown 2015 Plan area, and/or the Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone No. 5 (TIRZ). The program is managed by the DMD with funding from the DMD and TIRZ. Applications are considered on a first-come, first-serve basis while funding is available. Applicants can apply for up to $25,000 in reimbursement funding.
Though the funds are modest in relation to projects larger in scope, the approval reinforces the DMD’s dedication to downtown improvement on every level. The property is owned by Marcus Real Estate Limited Partnership.
“The DMD will review every applicant of the façade improvement grant with the same importance. Every project big or small helps to elevate the look and feel of our downtown,” said Joe Gudenrath, Executive Director of the DMD.
Planned façade improvements total an estimated project cost of $4,860. The scope of project improvements include the repair, patch, and paint of metal awnings, exterior stucco, exterior woodwork, and roll-up gate doors.
Funding is currently available for additional grant applications. Property owners interested in improving the exterior of their building can call the DMD at (915) 400-2294 or e-mail TMais@elpasodmd.org
