Although the official first day of summer this year is June 21, this West Texas heat is telling us otherwise! We want you to be ready with our list of places to be and things to do in Downtown to make Summer 2019 one to remember.
Music and Art
Shake up your Friday routine by attending Alfresco Friday’s at the El Paso Convention Center Plaza. This music series happens every Friday through August and features a different local band each week. There is something for every musical taste from mariachi music to funk to cumbias and more. Attendees are welcome to bring their own foldable chairs to have a rest when not dancing. Food and drinks are available for purchase at the Strike Zone Food Court. It is free to attend at starts at 6 pm.
Get your fill of music, art, and food at La Parada every first Friday of the month at the San Carlos Building. They have a fresh lineup of local artists and DJ’s each installment performing at their outside patio. Take in live art, shop handmade goods, and enjoy $1 tacos and margaritas from 501 Bistro from 5 pm-8 pm. Music starts at 9 pm.
As a community driven effort to highlight art and culture in the heart of the city, Last Thursdays! Art and Gallery Crawl, has grown each year to the attraction that it is now. Every last Thursday of the month visit more than 28 venues featuring local art, music, tours, and shopping from 6 pm-11 pm. Trolley Tracks: A Streetcar Music Series
Hop on a streetcar every last Thursday of the month for a special ride around Downtown featuring an intimate performance by El Paso’s very own. To be part of the experience get on the streetcar in front of the Main Library located at 501 N. Oregon at 7 pm. Entry is $1.50.
El Paso Museum of Art
Walk through exhibitions, take an art class, or enjoy live music at El Paso Museum of Art! They have something for everyone to fill their creative heart’s desire. Mark your calendars for their Summer Sessions music series, art school camps for kids, and upcoming exhibitions like Luces y Sombras: Images of Mexico. The museum is free for the public and open Tuesday and Wednesday from 9 am-5 pm, Thursday from 9 am-9 pm, Friday and Saturday from 9 am-5 pm and Sunday from 12 pm-5 pm. El Paso Museum of History
Learn about the rich multicultural and multinational history of El Paso and the border region at the El Paso Museum of History. On your way in stop by to play and learn with the DIGIE, a touch screen digital wall that stores vast collection of images and videos exploring El Paso’s past and present interpreting our region through time, neighborhoods, and themes. Stay nice and cool inside while you walk through their many exhibitions. The museum is free for the public and open Tuesday and Wednesday from 9 am-5 pm, Thursday from 9 am-9 pm, Friday and Saturday from 9 am-5 pm and Sunday from 12 pm-5 pm. All summer long, you have plenty of chances to catch as many El Paso Chihuahuas games as you want at the Southwest University Park! Nothing screams summer like a baseball game, a cold one, and a hot dog. Make it a friends day out or bring the kids; they make it fun for everyone with their promotional nights. El Paso Locomotive FC

Lost El Paso Paranormal
Stay out of the heat and explore Downtown in the evening with Lost El Paso Paranormal as costumed storyteller guides light they way through the dark streets by lantern. They host tours often in Downtown and they are popular so we recommend buying tickets promptly as their tours do sell out and have limited space. Ghosts915 Paso Del Norte Paranormal Society
Can’t get enough of the spooky stuff? Ghosts 915 hosts several themed ghost tours in Downtown including Haunted History Tour, Chinatown Ghost Tour, and Beauties & Beasts Haunted Brothel Tour. SunCycle Bike Share
Make a day out of visiting Downtown by hopping on a SunCycle or E-Bike, riding to the different districts and maybe stopping to grab something to eat or drink. There are eight stations located in Downtown and day passes are only $6! Learn about the app and more by visiting elpaso.bcycle.com!
Another way to see Downtown is on a Glide electric scooter! These scooters are the first to launch and operate in the city.
