Our community has been adapting to the current state of affairs for months, and we will continue to navigate as best we can. Louis Pasteur once said, “Chance favors the prepared mind,” but we’ll take it a step further and say, chance favors the prepared mind and body.
The City of El Paso has partnered with many organizations and businesses to create programming for the Live Active El Paso initiative, so we, as a community can be better prepared with health and wellness, especially in a pandemic. We spoke with the Strategic Initiatives Coordinator for the City of El Paso, Diana Cepeda to find out more about the initiative.
Q. In a nutshell, may you describe the program for us?
A. Live Active EP encourages and promotes better health and wellness by encouraging healthy lifestyle choices, physical activity, improved nutrition and strong mental well-being. We encourage these by offering free resources such as webinars with health experts and articles on living healthy lifestyles, practicing physical activity, and mental health.
The Live Active EP movement encourages neighbors, friends and families to engage in physical activity and conscious healthy eating habits every day. Not only is it a citywide effort to make our city healthier, but prepare everyone, physically and mentally, for the next wave of COVID-19 infections and the upcoming cold and flu season.
Q. With whom do you plan on partnering with to create programming the public can engage in?
A. The program has two tier of partnerships, Gold Medal and Silver Medal Partner. These partners will collaborate in different ways with Live Active EP to create free programming for the community. Most of our partners have already created initiatives to promote health and wellness.
Q. What kind of programming do you already have planned?
A. A variety of free resources are available on the Live Active EP website. The site contains weekly and monthly programs and events, educational and motivational videos, testimonials from people who decided to live an active life, as well as health information. The site will soon feature virtual discussions with health experts on nutrition, fitness and workouts, mental health, and diseases affecting our community. We have motivational speakers and testimonials on Motivation Monday, free webinars by professional experts on Wellness Wednesday and pre-recorded workouts on Fitness Fridays.
Q. If a business or organization is interested in partnering with you to create content, how can they get in touch with you?
A. They will go to the Live Active EP website fill out the partners form and we will reach out to them.
Q. Finally, will the content be exclusively on the website?
